Engineering Industrial Placement - Dunbar, UK About the Role

At EDF, Success is Personal. We dont define it, you do. Join our Engineering Industrial Placement and youll shape your future while helping Britain achieve net zero. Youll take on real responsibilities, learn from experienced professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects at one of our operational nuclear sites.

Electricity is such a vital component in everyones lives. It powers schools, businesses and hospitals, so I knew that if I did my placement within EDF then I would have a really large impact on society, and that made my placement a lot more fulfilling.Priyanka, Science and Engineering Industrial Placement

The Opportunity

This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of 26,050 and the chance to work at our #Torness Power Station in Scotland.

Youll apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges in the energy industry. From safety improvements to radiation protection and condition monitoring, this placement offers a wide range of learning opportunities that will help you grow professionally and personally.

What Youll Experience

During your Engineering Industrial Placement, youll work on projects that previous students have found rewarding. These include supporting safety campaigns, exploring radiation protection in new power stations, and helping maintain condition monitoring programmes across operational sites.

Youll be part of a collaborative team, applying your engineering skills to practical challenges and gaining insight into the operations of a nuclear power station. This is a chance to build your confidence, develop technical expertise, and make a real impact.

Your Work Location

Youll be based at our #Torness Power Station in Scotland (EH42), where youll work on site and connect with colleagues across the business.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Chemical Engineering.

It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility, we reserve the right in our decisions to give priority to those who already have the right to work in the UK.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a starting salary of at least 26,050 per annum and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. Thats why we offer you the freedom to develop a career thats unique to you. Here, Success is Personal its your journey, powered by us.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we're committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities.

As a Disability Confident employer, we're committed to creating an accessible recruitment process and encourage candidates to tell us about any support they may need. Should you disclose a disability and meet the minimum criteria (which will include holding a relevant degree discipline/grade and achieving the required pass mark for Stage 1 Testing) for the role youll be progressed to the first stage of the selection process. Some of our roles at EDF attract large volumes of applications. When this happens, well apply the Disability Confident schemes guidance on taking practical and appropriate steps selecting disabled candidates who best meet the minimum criteria for the job.

Our Recruitment Process

We'll guide you through every stage and keep you updated along the way. You'll be supported by real people, with opportunities to ask questions, learn more and receive feedback where possible.

For our Early Careers Programmes, we use a combination of automated decision-making, assessment technology and human review.
