Engineering Manager – Bakery and Food Production

Lochore, Fife.

£60,000 ~ £65,000 (Depending upon experience)

We are currently seeking a dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our skilled engineering team and contribute to our continued growth.


The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Bakery Operations, the Engineering Manager will oversee all aspects of our engineering team, currently consisting of 5 engineers operating on a 4 on/4 off shift system covering 7 days a week. You will be responsible for PPM, reactive repair, and leading improvement projects across our production facilities.


Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:

Foster a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with UK legislation for both colleagues and contractors.

Uphold and enhance food safety standards across the site.

Lead and support the site’s capital projects from justification through to implementation.

Promote colleague flexibility and engagement to enhance team performance.

Ensure clear communication of the business purpose and objectives to the engineering team.

Collaborate with site teams to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve operational performance and efficiencies.

Implement and refine maintenance strategies using our Asset Management System.

Lead and support the Fire and BCP emergency plans.


What we’re looking for in our Engineering Manager:

A passionate leader with a proven track record in engineering management within the food production environment.

Demonstrable experience in driving continuous improvement in a production/manufacturing environment.

Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to motivate and manage a diverse team.

A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and project management.

A proven track record of developing engineering teams.

Excellent problem solving and leadership skills.

Able to influence, be proactive, practical and have a commercially sound approach to work.


Qualifications and experience:

SCQF Level 8 or above qualification in electrical/mechanical discipline.

Safety qualified to minimum IOSH managing safely or equivalent.

Proven experience of leading/managing an established engineering team, ideally in a food manufacturing environment to improve overall site performance.

Use of continuous improvement tools and techniques.

Ability to think strategically to enhance site/cultural performance.

Excellent knowledge of Asset/ Maintenance Management Systems.

Detailed knowledge of using MS Office products, particularly Excel.

Technical competence.
