Full Job Description

SSEN are looking for an Environment Advisor to provide advice, support and guidance across our capital and connection projects by promoting a practical understanding across all environmental management processes and operate as the environmental conscience of the region. The overall aim is to achieve environmental compliance and continuously improve environmental performance.

The main responsibilities in this role will be;

- The development and continual improvement of the environmental elements of the Distribution SHE Management System.

- To have strong internal and external stakeholder management skills to drive cross business collaboration in order to build a high performing, commercially and customer focused culture through the effective delivery of safe, reliable and affordable outcomes.

- To complete environmental assessments/audits of businesses, organisations and contractors. Completing such activities with integrity to ensure the valuable level of impartiality and objectivity is essential

- Responsible for providing environmental related advice and support to the business and for ensuring projects delivered within their remit minimise environmental risk and improve governance

- To deliver the Safety Family requirements in line with the SSE Safety Family Programme, ensuring this is delivered in a clear, consistent and frequent way including working with Preferred/ Strategic Contractors to develop stronger, safer and respectful relationships on site.

Knowledge and experience of environmental management issues associated with operational activities on transmission/ distribution networks, such as pollution control, waste management, bunding, etc.

- Degree level Environmental qualification or related discipline or equivalent knowledge gained through experience in an electricity Networks business.

- Extensive working knowledge and understanding of UK legislation and the electricity Networks market place.

- Operate with integrity, innovation, self-motivation and transparency.

- Good ability to organise and prioritise workload under own initiative.
