Our client, an established healthcare organisation is seeking a Facilities Assistant/Driver to join its busy Facilities Team. Please note a PVG check will be required for this role.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining general maintenance, driving, portering and facilities support. You will help maintain buildings, vehicles and facilities to a high standard, while providing practical support to staff, patients and visitors across local sites.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and handyman tasks, including basic plumbing, joinery and minor roofing repairs
  
  
• Support water safety procedures and undertake Legionella-related duties following appropriate training
  
  
• Drive cars, vans and minibuses as required, including transporting patients to appointments
  
  
• Complete routine vehicle checks and basic vehicle maintenance
  
  
• Assist with the safe transfer of deceased patients and liaise with undertakers when required
  
  
• Collect and deliver stores, samples and other items between sites and wards
  
  
• Move furniture and equipment and support waste management duties
  
  
• Receive and distribute goods and undertake general facilities tasks as required
  
  
• Support health and safety responsibilities, including Fire Warden and First Aid duties following appropriate training
  
  

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

• Practical, reliable and self-motivated, with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  
  
• Experienced in general maintenance or handyman work
  
  
• A confident driver with a clean, current driving licence and appropriate entitlement for vans/minibuses
  
  
• Able to carry out basic vehicle checks and maintenance
  
  
• Flexible and able to respond to changing service needs
  
  
• Professional, courteous and comfortable working with a wide range of people
  
  
• Highly organised with good attention to detail
