Full Job Description

Finance Administrator

Salary: Grade 4 (£27,144 - £37,323)

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) owns ferries, ports and harbour infrastructure necessary for vital ferry services serving many communities throughout the West Coast of Scotland, Clyde Estuary and the Northern Isles. We aim to provide efficient, cost effective and safe vessels, harbours and associated port infrastructure for operators, communities and users in and around Scotland.

The company has grown quickly over the last few years and the major projects our teams manage have also increased in number and size. CMAL currently has 13 vessels under construction around the globe and major infrastructure work is taking place in ports and harbours such as Port Ellen on the Isle of Islay where redevelopment of the harbour and construction of a new terminal building is on-going.

With the increase in the size and accounting complexity of the company, the need for compliance with evolving legislation and due diligence in our supply chain has also increased. As a result of this, we are recruiting for a Finance Administrator to support the Finance Team.

The role

Primarily reporting to the Finance Director, you will work as part of a dynamic team. Each day your role will be varied, and your key tasks will include:

• Supporting the Finance Director with Anti-Fraud Committee meetings, policies and training.

• Supporting the Financial Controller in supplier due diligence processes.

• Liaising with the Procurement Team and Project Managers to ensure that contracts have been reviewed for Construction Industry Scheme tax compliance.

• Running standard regular reports.

• Provision of cover for the Purchase Ledger Assistant.

• Reconciliation of vessel upgrade invoices.

• Arranging meetings, booking meeting rooms and taking minutes in Finance Team meetings.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated, professional, and diligent team member who enjoys a challenge and has the ability to act on their own initiative. The following skills and experience are required for the role:

• Must have at least two years’ experience of working within a busy Finance Team environment and should be able to demonstrate knowledge of processing supplier invoices, producing basic reports and reconciling data.

• A working knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme tax would be beneficial, as would a knowledge of the Failure to Prevent Fraud offense arising from the Economic Crime and Transparency Act 2023.

• The ability to plan and prioritise own workload on a daily basis, manage and complete tasks within tight timescales.

What’s in it for you?

You will be joining an experienced team within a rewarding and evolving working environment in a future focused organisation.

• An attractive salary.

• 30 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays per year.

• A defined benefit pension scheme based on your final salary.

• A ferry travel pass for yourself, spouse/partner, and dependents.

• Life assurance and an optional healthcare scheme.

• A commitment to helping staff to develop their skills through training and professional qualifications.

• A range of company policies that reflect our commitment to creating a positive work-life balance for all our employees.

The work environment

Our head office is on the Clyde Estuary in Port Glasgow and offers a modern working environment with excellent road and public transport links. The primary responsibilities of the role will be undertaken during office hours of Monday to Friday, between 08.30 – 17.00 at our Port Glasgow head office.
