Full Job Description
Iconic Resourcing are delighted to be partnering with a leading Scottish property management business to recruit a Financial Controller. This is a newly created permanent role, which will support the Managing Director, whilst working proactively with a senior leadership team and managing an established finance team.
You will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations across both the management company and the client accounting operations, leading a finance and administration team. You will be able demonstrate effective leadership, a foundation and training in financial processes and controls, analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of financial management. Additionally, you will ensure the integrity of financial information that will facilitate strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Management Accounts:
- Prepare and present management accounts for the management company and small property company, ensuring completed to required deadlines for Director and senior leadership team.
- Analyse financial performance, including revenue streams / expense trends, identifying areas for improvement and profitability increase.
- Develop KPIs and financial metrics to measure operational effectiveness.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting process and provide quarterly forecasts to assist in future planning
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
Fee Income Management:
- Oversee the management and reconciliation of fee income, ensuring all income is accurately recorded and reported.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure that fee structures are effectively communicated and managed.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Ensure accurate and timely bank reconciliations for all company accounts.
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies in bank transactions.
Client Accounting Processes:
- Lead the client accounting process around the residential factoring business, collecting floats from residential property owners and utilising such funds for the payment to suppliers.
- Oversee key processes and controls around client monies handling including daily client bank account reconciliations
- Oversee all finance transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliant.
- Oversee accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments to maintain cash flow.
Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews to foster a collaborative and motivated work environment.
Process Improvement and Systems Development:
- Evaluate current financial systems and processes, recommending improvements or upgrades to improve efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
- Lead initiatives to automate reporting and reconciliation processes, utilising technology to reduce manual tasks and increase reliability.
You will ideally be a qualified accountant and with a background in audit, process and controls. Excellent leadership and team management experience is expected as well as the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and relationships. You'll also possess a good range of accounting experience with advanced MS Excel and strong analytical skills.
