Full Job Description
Financial Controller
BrightPath | South Lanarkshire | £65,000+ per annum
Take ownership. Improve the way finance works. Support business growth.
BrightPath is recruiting on behalf of a successful, market-leading SME in Lanarkshire for a hands-on Financial Controller to join its growing organisation.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of the finance function, lead a team and help shape the systems, processes and reporting that will support the business through its next stage of growth.
This is more than a traditional Financial Controller role, this is a great step in your experience levels and value in your CV. Alongside strong financial control and reporting, you’ll have the opportunity to drive improvements in technology, automation and financial processes, helping the business work smarter and make better-informed decisions.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Leading financial reporting, month-end and year-end accounts, budgeting and forecasting.
- Managing cash flow, banking relationships, treasury and financial controls.
- Overseeing sales and revenue reporting, providing meaningful commercial insight to the business.
- Leading, developing and supporting the finance team.
- Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards, tax requirements and statutory obligations.
- Improving finance systems, reporting tools and processes, with a focus on automation, accuracy and efficiency.
What we're looking for:
You'll be a fully qualified ACCA member or relevant equivalent with strong technical accounting knowledge and proven experience in a growing SME or similarly fast-paced environment.
You'll also bring:
- Strong, hands-on experience of Xero, including accounting, reporting and bank reconciliations.
- A solid background in financial control, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Experience managing and developing a finance team.
- Excellent Excel skills and a strong understanding of UK tax and statutory compliance.
- A practical, commercially minded approach, with the confidence to work hands-on while improving processes and building for the future.
- A genuine interest in technology, automation and digital innovation.
Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce, banking facility reviews or FCA-regulated businesses would be advantageous, but is not essential.
What's on offer?
- Salary of £65,000, depending on experience.
- A senior finance role with direct access to the CEO and the opportunity to influence business performance.
- The chance to make a tangible impact on systems, processes and the development of the finance function.
- A modern, impressive office in South Lanarkshire, with ample free on-site parking.
Interested?
If you're an ACCA-qualified (or equivalent) finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial thinking, leadership and a passion for continuous improvement, BrightPath would love to hear from you.
