Full Job Description
McPhee Mixers is looking for a skilled and motivated Fitter to join our growing team in Motherwell. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and being part of a fast-paced engineering environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. As a Fitter, you'll play a key role in assembling and installing components on commercial vehicles to meet customer specifications. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assembling and fitting truck components, hydraulics, and ancillary equipment
- Reading and interpreting CAD drawings and build specifications
- Completing jobs within agreed timescales and to a high standard
- Accurately completing job cards in line with Type Approval requirements
- Carrying out installations and repairs on customer sites when required
- Ensuring all vehicles pass quality control checks before sign-off
- Maintaining compliance with COP and Type Approval standards
- Following all Health & Safety procedures
- Supporting general workshop duties as required
Experience with MIG welding (steel/ferrous metals) - Experience working with hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
- Strong communication skills
- Physically fit (lifting, bending, and manual handling required)
- Full, clean UK driving licence Preferred:
- Previous fabrication experience
- Experience diagnosing and solving hydraulic issues Personal Qualities
