Full Job Description

As an FM Estimator, you will be lead the pricing of Facilities Management opportunities - across planned preventative maintenance (PPM), lifecycle, reactive, minor works, and integrated hard FM - ensuring compliant, competitive, and profitable submissions aligned to company governance and client outcomes. The role supports the FM Managing Surveyor and wider Commercial & Bid teams from early pipeline shaping through to contract award and operational handover. These include Distribution Centres, High Street Outlets, Historic Buildings, Further Education and Local Authorities. The Role - Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation & Financial Management:
  • + Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing models for service-based contracts. + Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and value engineering exercises to ensure cost-effectiveness. + Develop and maintain cost databases for labour, materials, and subcontracted services. + Present proposals in adjudication meetings.
  • Tendering & Procurement:
  • + Assist in the preparation and submission of tender documentation, ensuring compliance with client requirements. + Work with procurement teams to obtain supplier and subcontractor quotes to inform cost estimates.
  • Contract Administration & Risk Management:
  • + Provide commercial input into tender contract negotiations, ensuring risks and financial implications are clearly understood. + Monitor contract cost performance, identifying variances and potential financial risks. + Ensure contracts comply with industry regulations, company policies, and client requirements. + Work closely with legal teams to review contract terms and mitigate financial exposure.
  • Team Leadership
  • + Support and develop the Estimating & Extra to Contract Team, providing guidance to manage commercial aspects of their workloads + Mentor staff to assist in their development + Review ways of working to assist in their day to day workload

    + Proven experience in cost estimating, financial management, or commercial roles within service-based industries. + Strong knowledge of service contracts, procurement processes, and cost control measures. + Proficiency in cost estimation software, Microsoft Excel, and financial modelling. + Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data. + Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. + Understanding of contract law, risk management, and compliance within service contracts.
  • Desirable:
  • + Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field. + Experience in public sector procurement (e.g., NEC, JCT, or PFI contracts). + Familiarity with benchmarking tools, cost databases, and estimating software. + Experience in working within an SFG20 environment.
