Full Job Description

37 hours per week - to suit the needs of the service, including evenings and weekends, To contribute to the development of cricket across Perth and Kinross, working with key partners in the area to identify gaps in provision and develop new participation opportunities. The post will also have responsibility for supporting the development of local clubs and structures to promote growth and sustainability in the sport., Operational Duties
Key Tasks

  • Contribute to the delivery of the strategic priorities of Live Active Leisure and Perth and Kinross Council's Sport and Physical Activity Framework through the delivery of LAL's Sport Business Plan.

  • To develop and implement a Perth and Kinross Cricket Development Plan in line with the priorities of LAL and funders.

  • Develop and deliver sustainable cricket participation programmes in, schools, clubs, communities and LAL venues.

  • Create and develop strong relationships with relevant LAL departments (Sports Development, Active Schools, Wellbeing and Facility Operations) as well as with key external stakeholders in the area including Cricket Scotland, Saints in the Community, Clubs and league associations.

  • Provide governance and club development support to Perth and Kinross cricket clubs, supporting them to become accredited through PACES.

  • Work with local and national associations (P&K Cricket Development Group, Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union & Cricket Scotland) to support structures to grow the sport in Perth and Kinross

  • Identify gaps in provision locally and develop new opportunities for participation with a focus on those facing barriers to participation through inequalities.

  • Attend and contribute to the P&K Cricket Development Group, supporting a coordinated approach to growing the sport in Perth and Kinross.

  • Understand the training needs of volunteers involved with teams/clubs/schools in the local area and liaise with Cricket Scotland staff to ensure appropriate courses are provided & promoted.

  • Promote the recognition of volunteers through local, regional and national award programmes.

  • Direct line management responsibility for Assistant Cricket Development Officer, providing support and advice as required.

  • Manage relief cricket coaches delivering within LAL programmes, ensuring rotas and timetabling fits with the needs of the service.

  • Develop LAL's cricket curriculum to ensure high quality, consistent provision across all venues and sessions.

  • Support the development of less experienced coaches involved in LAL programmes, improving the standard of coaching and therefore the quality of offer.

  • To identify best practice examples and attend relevant events and training opportunities that relate to the development of cricket within community settings.

  • Provide regular reports and updates to line manager and key partners to assess ongoing impact of post.

  • Be an integral member of the sports development team within LAL, using the business intelligence gained from working with cricket clubs to contribute to the wider aims of the SPORT business stream.

  • Adopt an evidence-based approach to planning, with an emphasis on impact.

  • To contribute to the delivery and coordination of specific events, initiatives and projects as determined by the needs of the service.

  • Work with key partners to bring additional events, participatory festivals and coach education courses to Perth and Kinross, increasing the profile of cricket in the area and reducing barriers to participation.

    Level 1 Cricket Coaching (ICC or UKCC) working towards Level 2, a First Aid qualification and Safeguarding & Protecting Children Certificate are essential.
