Job purpose/about the role
To undertake either individually or as a member of a team a variety of duties concerned with Environmental Operations including both general work and horticultural work of a specialist nature in public parks, playing fields, cemeteries, landscaped areas, public open spaces, public roads, amenity areas and housing estates.
- SVQ level 3, or City and Guilds level in Horticulture, or equivalent qualification.
- Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.
- Ability to understand and respond to instructions given.
- Ability to deal with customers in a helpful and friendly manner.
- Ability to resolve issues and contribute to the continuous improvement of service.
- Ability to complete job-related sheets accurately.
- Ability to carry out manual duties in all types of weather.

PVG Membership and Salary Information
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above.
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment.
