Graduate Civil Engineer
Salary: 35-40,000 plus package
Location: Stirling
Your new company
An established marine and civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Graduate Civil Engineer to join its growing team based in Stirling.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Civil Engineering graduate to gain hands-on experience across a range of marine and infrastructure projects, with exposure to both the tendering and site delivery sides of the business.
Your new role
Reporting to the Senior Civil Engineer, you will receive support and mentoring while developing your technical and practical engineering experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the identification of suitable tender opportunities.
* Supporting the preparation of PQQs and tender submissions.
* Attending site visits to assess proposed works and site conditions.
* Assisting with the preparation of risk assessments and project documentation.
* Supporting the pricing and procurement of materials.
* Developing experience in site setting out and surveying.
* Assisting with the planning and coordination of site activities.
* Providing progress updates to the Project Manager and wider project team.
* Working alongside the QHSE team to ensure works are carried out in line with RAMS and site procedures.
* Attending client and project meetings.
* Assisting with project completion and handover documentation.
* Gaining exposure to projects from initial tender stage through to completion.
What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally have:
* A degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
* A genuine interest in developing a career within marine civil engineering.
* An interest in site-based engineering, setting out and surveying.
* A willingness to work across different project locations when required.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* Basic Microsoft Office skills.
* A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a project team.
* An interest in marine environments, coastal works or vessels would be beneficial but is not essential.
Previous industry experience is not essential, although a placement year, summer placement or previous site exposure would be advantageous.
What you'll get in return
This is an excellent graduate opportunity to build a career within a specialist area of civil engineering.
You will gain practical exposure to marine civils, setting out, surveying, tendering, project delivery and commercial activities, working alongside experienced engineers and project professionals.
The position would particularly suit a graduate who wants a hands-on engineering role rather than a purely office-based graduate position.
What you need to do now
You will need to have a valid UK working VISA to be considered for this position as they do not offer sponsorship.
If you're interested in this opportunity, please apply with an up-to-date CV or contact Cedric Fyffe, Business Director - Civils Scotland, Hays for a confidential discussion.
