Full Job Description
Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Glasgow office, where you will support significant water-sector projects from day one, working across Scottish Water programmes and wider UK frameworks. As a graduate at Stantec, you will join our Glasgow Civils team, which comprises around 20 people and operates as part of an integrated Scottish team of approximately 45 alongside the Edinburgh Civils team. You will work closely with urban drainage modelling, hydraulic, mechanical, geotechnical and other engineering colleagues on a wide range of water-sector projects. You will support Scottish Water projects including Improving Urban Waters, storm overflows, flooding and asset inspections, while also contributing to work for other regions and clients such as Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water and Irish Water. Across these projects, you will help improve water supplies and wastewater networks and treatment across the country. Take a look at our Water business line here: Water (stantec.com) , and review the career journey of some of our early careers professionals here: Career Stories | Stantec About The Role Working as part of a friendly and collaborative team, with support and guidance from Senior and Principal Civil Engineers, you will help solve engineering problems and support project delivery across AMP8 and DV4 programmes. Your day-to-day work may include engineering calculations, design development, drawings, technical reports, presentations, coordination with other disciplines and opportunities to undertake site visits. Your core responsibilities include:
- Supporting Scottish Water programmes including Improving Urban Waters, storm overflows, flooding and asset inspections.
- Contributing to wider water and wastewater projects for clients including Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water and Irish Water.
- Collaborating with urban drainage modelling, hydraulic, mechanical, geotechnical, pipeline, dams and reservoir, structural and other engineering colleagues.
- Providing support across AMP8 and DV4 programmes, helping improve water supplies and wastewater networks and treatment.
- Using design software and shared digital environments, including tools such as Forma, while developing flexibility in learning new systems.
- Developing your technical capability through project work, mentoring, the graduate development programme and training in areas such as geotechnical engineering, storm overflows, sustainability, buildability and pipelines. You'll be supported towards professional progression with ICE, CIWEM and/or the Institute of Water, depending on your pathway.
