Full Job Description

Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts is a privately owned main contractor with several operating divisions including Construction, Fit Out, Refurbishment, Housing and Maintenance. We employ over 280 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland.

It's an exciting time for both our Housing Division and our Development Partner Nova Homes and we have a unique opportunity for a Graduate Land and Development Coordinator to join our team.

This role is ideally suited to a recent graduate or someone due to graduate soon who is looking to build a career in land acquisition, property development, housing or real estate. Working alongside an experienced team, you will gain exposure to the full development lifecycle, helping to identify and assess land opportunities that support the continued growth of our Housing Division and Nova Homes.

These opportunities will be predominantly within the RSL/Affordable Housing Sector.

Role & Responsibilities

As a Graduate Land and Development Coordinator, you will support the team in identifying, researching and assessing land opportunities while developing a strong understanding of the land acquisition and development process.

Working closely with an experienced team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the identification and research of potential land opportunities through market intelligence, planning portals, agent relationships and industry contacts.
  • Supporting the preparation of site appraisals, feasibility assessments and development reports.
  • Researching planning, legal, technical and commercial constraints associated with potential development sites.
  • Assisting with financial appraisals and viability assessments.
  • Helping maintain and update the land opportunity pipeline and associated databases.
  • Monitoring local planning policy, housing market trends and competitor activity.
  • Supporting the preparation of land bids, presentations and acquisition documentation.
  • Attending meetings with landowners, agents, consultants, Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the coordination of consultants and technical teams during the early stages of potential developments.
  • Preparing reports and presentations for internal meetings and business planning purposes.
  • Building relationships across the business to develop an understanding of how land acquisition supports the wider development process.

Candidate

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in land acquisition, property development and housing who is keen to develop a long-term career within the industry.

You may be a recent graduate or due to graduate soon in a relevant discipline such as:

  • Real Estate

  • Quantity Surveying
  • Construction Management

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • A full UK driving licence or a willingness to obtain one.

No previous land acquisition experience is required, although relevant work placements, internships or industry experience would be advantageous.
