Full Job Description
Our apprenticeship is geared toward training the next generation of fully-fledged Service Technicians/Mechanics. But what does a Service Technician/Mechanic do?
Service Technicians/Mechanics service and repair light vehicles such as cars up to 3.5 tonnes. Service Technicians/Mechanics are trained in all areas of vehicle mechanics and electronics, from engine and exhaust systems to air conditioning and security features. The duties of a Service Technician/Mechanic may include:
Servicing vehicles - carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturers' guidelines.
Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components.
Advising the Service Receptionists about required repairs.
Producing time estimates.
Maintaining repair and service records.
Please note, the Service Technician/Mechanic role varies slightly by employer based upon the specific needs within the location.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join our team and embark on a long term career, with excellent earning and progression opportunities once you complete your apprenticeship.
GCSE grades 9 - 4 (A - C) or equivalent in English, Maths and two other subjects are required.
In Scotland, applicants must have or be predicted to achieve Scottish National 5 Grades A - C or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technical subject.
'Equivalent' grades include:
BTEC first diplomas and certificates
OCR Nationals
Key Skills Level 2
NVQs
Essential Skills (Wales)
Functional Skills Level 2
Core Skills (Scotland)
We accept predicted grades and conditional offers can be made based on predicted grades.
Personal qualities
We are looking for people with an interest in engineering and technology to thrive in this role. While full technical training will be provided, desired skills include problem solving, attention to detail and an aptitude for applied logic.

We're not looking for the finished article; rather we want to identify those people that are ambitious and demonstrate a willingness to learn, who are excited by the prospect of working with our fantastic, technologically advanced vehicles and really engage in the recruitment process. English and Maths guidance from the government changed on 11th February 2025. This employer wishes to support upskilling in both English and Maths but understands that some applicants aged 19+ may not have the advertised entry grades. These are desired but not essential for success - applications specifically for candidates aged 19+ who have achieved a grade 3/D will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants aged 16-18 are subject to entry grades of a 4 or above or equivalent as advertised.
