The role holder will lead the Financial Control team to ensure key controls across UK Shared Business Supplier (UKSBS) and internal teams and part of building a robust financial control environment is maintained and iterated. They will develop and embed a culture of financial control and mitigation of counter fraud risk across the organisation, including policies and training.
They will be a part of the wider Finance Directorate Senior Leadership Team, ensuring the support and development of teams across the directorate. Including a commitment to continuous improvement, automation and efficiency.,
- Leading the Financial Control team, consisting of Financial Accounts and Counter Fraud functions
- Leading on the preparation of the annual accounts and the areas of the annual report which Finance prepare
- Lead for the Financial audit and the National Audit Office's main contact
- Managing financial audits and acting as the main contact for the National Audit Office (NAO) or equivalent external auditors
- Responsible for managing the UKSBS relationship and quality of the ledger
- Regularly review and assess the performance of UKSBS, addressing any issues and ensuring high standards of service.
- Lead for updating finance policies e.g. T&S, expenses and ensuring we're assuring ourselves around compliance
- Provide leadership support to G7 Counter Fraud lead
- Lead the Agency's relationship with the Government Counter Fraud Profession
- Line management responsibilities
- Promote effective individual and team performance.
- Understanding of risk management principles and the ability to identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Provide comprehensive support, guidance, and coaching for budget holders to improve financial management capabilities.
- Embed finance future ways of working (in line with Matrix) within the team and the Agency
- Membership of the Finance Directorate Senior Leadership team, including Deputising for the Director of Finance
- Representing the Agency on teams/boards at the European Space Agency
