Full Job Description

Reporting to Managing Director Integrated Services, this role will provide global leadership for Materials Management and Warehousing within ASCO to drive performance, transformative change, operational excellence and control, consultancy, growth and innovation., Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the board to establish and refine ASCO's corporate strategy.


  • Lead the development and consistent delivery of Materials Management and Warehousing across the group including UK and international markets, ensuring the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and service excellence.


  • Guide long-term vision, fostering innovation, and align resources to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.


  • Aligning organisational goals to drive efficiency and effectiveness.


  • Strategy Development

  • Set the vision and strategy for Materials Management and Warehousing.


  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop innovative solutions to address challenges and capitalise on growth opportunities.


  • Utilise market expertise and regulatory knowledge to align operations with industry best practices.


  • Technology Development

  • Lead the development of our industry leading materials and warehousing work execution systems.


  • Identify new opportunities for technology within ASCO operations and our clients operations.


  • Comprehensive Oversight

  • Lead initiatives and consultancy within Materials Management and Warehousing.


  • Design experience of warehousing operations applying lean principles.


  • Oversee operational performance, manpower allocation, and drive improvements and technology adoption in these areas.


  • Financial Control

  • Provide budget responsibility and accountability for the Materials Management and Warehousing financial performance.


  • Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and maintain standards for performance, quality, and safety within Materials Management and Warehousing.


  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, workflow efficiency and customer satisfaction.


  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement.


  • Uphold safety standards while fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency.


  • Growth Initiatives

  • Play a pivotal role in executing the growth strategy for the business for Materials Management and Warehousing


  • Identify and capitalise on emerging opportunities to expand ASCO's global footprint.


  • Develop and execute a business development and a sales plan.


  • Support the writing of proposals and tenders for the discipline.


  • Leadership

  • Provide leadership to ASCO's customer base, offering strategic insights, practical advice and guidance in warehouse and materials management matters.

    Extensive knowledge of materials management and warehousing processes, procedures and operational activities.


  • Demonstrable experience in materials management consultancy.


  • Track-record of systems design and deployment including integration with ERP systems.


  • Results-oriented with a drive to achieve high performance standards.


  • Skilled in measuring, analysing, and understanding technical information and processes.


  • Excellent planning, organising, and numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail.


  • Expertise in solution driven performance.


  • Knowledge of accounting techniques and principles.


  • Continuously update knowledge of business processes.


  • Commercial experience and capability to evaluate the commercial consequences and the significance of business decisions.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, adept at developing proposals, writing reports, and presenting to stakeholders.


  • Capable of managing multiple activities and prioritising service delivery.


  • Knowledgeable in Change Management techniques and models.


  • Familiarity with Lean techniques and other process analysis tools.


  • Track record in successfully leading large projects.


  • In-depth knowledge of ERP systems.


  • Knowledge and experience of Materials Management operational and system design.


  • Knowledge and experience of inventory management and optimisation.


  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified to Honours Degree level in a relevant subject or 10 years materials management managerial experience at a senior level.


  • Recognised qualification in improvement processes and management.


  • Desirable Qualifications /Competencies

  • Qualified to Master Degree level in management.
