Make a difference to the places our customers call home
Bring strategic thinking, practical delivery and team leadership to Bield as our Head of Property Management. Drive lasting improvements to customer-focused property services through an ambitious period of change and innovation.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Assets, you will lead our property management function, with responsibility for repairs, compliance and corporate health and safety. You will directly manage the Repairs Manager, Compliance Manager, and Health & Safety Advisor bringing these services together to keep our homes compliant, well maintained and responsive to customers’ needs.
You will turn strategic priorities into effective day-to-day delivery, championing innovation, value for money and continuous improvement. Working closely with colleagues across the Assets Directorate, you will help deliver Bield’s Strategic Asset Management Strategy and shape the future of our housing stock.
- Lead reactive repairs and cyclical maintenance programmes, delivering quality services and strong customer outcomes.
- Oversee compliance contracts and corporate health and safety, ensuring services meet statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Set, manage and report on property and compliance budgets, balancing quality with value for money.
- Strengthen procurement and contract management, including the development and implementation of Bield’s corporate procurement strategy.
- Put tenant choice, participation and feedback at the heart of service improvement, including effective complaints handling.
- Build an inclusive, collaborative team culture, supporting colleagues to develop their expertise and deliver change.
About You
You will bring a proven track record of managing a comparable service delivery programme, alongside experience of setting and reporting on budgets. An inclusive leader and influential communicator, you will know how to motivate and support teams, build partnerships and translate priorities into results.
Commercially aware and adaptable, you will be confident negotiating, solving problems and managing competing demands. You will bring fresh thinking to working practices and systems, with the drive to shape Bield’s future direction and a genuine interest in promoting excellent standards of care for older people.
Education to degree level is essential. A relevant professional qualification, senior management experience in the voluntary or public sector, and experience of strategic policy development and implementation are desirable.
Working with Bield
This role offers the opportunity to influence both our strategic direction and the everyday services our customers receive. We support work–life balance through flexible policies and practices that meet the needs of our colleagues and the organisation, and promote an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly.
You will be based at our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, with a hybrid approach to office and remote working currently in operation. Travel between offices and developments is required, along with the flexibility to work outside normal office hours when needed and participate in training. A valid UK driving licence and access to your own roadworthy vehicle, insured for business use, are required.
The role carries a £4,671 annual car allowance, with business mileage reimbursed at the applicable HMRC Fuel Advisory rates.
Our Benefits include
- Excellent holidays of up to 34 days per year (pro rata for part time employees)
- Opportunities to receive support and funding for vocational and/or professional qualifications
- Great learning and development opportunities
- Enhanced and paternity maternity pay
- Employee assistance programme
