Full Job Description
In 2026 the Council agreed significant budget investment over the next five years to provide c.2,500 additional temporary accommodation units, as well as 3,400 additional settled affordable homes delivered by the Council and partners.
The Housing & Homelessness Strategy team are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can assist the delivery of new projects and strategies to deliver the investment.
The post holders should have knowledge within the housing and homelessness sector and be able to contribute to the development of innovative solutions to challenges. You should have experience of assisting the delivery of successful projects through partnership working, and able to deal with changing demands.
Post 1 will work within a diverse remit, supporting the delivery of the Housing Emergency Action Plan providing strategic support for homelessness including temporary accommodation and homelessness prevention, including the development of an asset management strategy.
Post 2 will primarily assist with the Council's Acquisitions and Disposals programme, aiming to increase the number of homes available as part of the Council's strategic objective to eliminate the use of unsuitable temporary accommodation.
As part of our goal to improve organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure we're recruiting the best people. We're interested not only in your skills and experience but also in your approach to work. Therefore, part of our interview process will be an assessment of how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
In November 2023, the Council declared a housing emergency. Every night over 6,000 households are in temporary accommodation in the city, with over 9, 000 homeless households in the city in total. There are over 32,000 applicants registered on EdIndex, seeking social housing in the city.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
