Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Taysides Public Protection Service as an Improvement Support Officer.  The post is a Tayside-wide post with the main base in Murray Royal Hospital, Perth.

Reporting to the Public Protection Quality Improvement Programme Lead, the post holder will support the development and implementation of robust quality assurance and performance reporting systems and processes to provide assurances to NHS Tayside on the adequacy and effectiveness of public protection arrangements for vulnerable children, young people, and adults at risk of harm.  The post holder will support a quality improvement programme in Public Protection services provided by NHS services across NHS Tayside and Dundee, Angus and Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnerships.

Applicants will be educated to diploma level, or equivalent, with project management experience in an NHS setting.  The post holder will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to working collaboratively across professions and agencies.  You will also have excellent care values, be dynamic and forward thinking in your approach, and demonstrate the resilience required to work in a challenging Public Protection environment.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
