The Ingredients and Packaging QA Champion is responsible for ensuring that all ingredients and packaging materials meet company, customer, and legal requirements before use in production. The role supports the delivery of high food safety and quality standards by controlling, monitoring, and continuously improving ingredient and packaging compliance across site operations. Working within intake, storage, and production areas, the Ingredients and Packaging QA Champion is accountable for the effective quality assurance and control of all incoming ingredients and packaging materials. The role monitors standards, identifies risks, and supports corrective actions, while advising management of any issues that could impact food safety, quality, or compliance. - Ensure all incoming ingredients and packaging materials are checked, approved, and released in line with company procedures and intake schedules
- Verify ingredients and packaging against approved specifications, allergen declarations, and customer requirements
- Ensure full and accurate traceability of all ingredients and packaging materials from intake through use
- Confirm all packaging materials are fit for purpose and compliant with legal, customer, and brand standards
- Carry out intake checks including delivery condition, hygiene standards, seal integrity, and temperature where applicable
- Ensure labelling details (ingredients, allergens, batch codes, best-before dates, and legal text) are accurate and compliant
- Monitor and report ingredient or packaging quality issues, escalating concerns to management where necessary
- Raise, record, and follow up nonconformances, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented
- Support allergen management and segregation controls across the site
- Maintain accurate QA records and documentation in line with HACCP, GMP, BRCGS, and company standards
- Support traceability, audit, and recall activities when required
- Promote best practice in food safety, quality, and compliance across intake and production areas
- Carry out any additional duties reasonably requested by the QA Manager or line manager.
