Full Job Description
Edinburgh College is seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Instructor to join our Automotive Engineering team. This role plays an important part in delivering high quality, practical and industry relevant training that supports learners to build strong technical skills and confidence in a real workshop environment., As an Instructor, you will deliver hands-on training across a range of vehicle maintenance and repair activities, ensuring learners develop safe working practices, professional behaviours and a clear understanding of current industry standards. You will work with learners at different stages of their journey, providing guidance, feedback and encouragement to help them progress, achieve their learning outcomes and prepare for employment, apprenticeships or further study.
The Automotive department delivers programmes aligned closely to employer needs, with a strong focus on practical competence. Experience in HGV and or PSV maintenance and repair would be particularly valuable, allowing you to support a wider range of programmes and learner pathways and contribute to realistic, employer focused training.
Working closely with colleagues, you will help maintain a safe, inclusive and well organised workshop environment, ensure tools and equipment are maintained to industry expectations and support day to day learner engagement, attendance and discipline in line with College policy. You will also be expected to keep your technical knowledge current, engage in professional development and contribute positively to team working within the department.
Applicants should have significant industry experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, be educated to SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant automotive discipline and demonstrate strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. A recognised assessing qualification and experience with hybrid and or electric vehicle systems are desirable, but not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive professional who is passionate about developing others and contributing to high quality vocational education within a further education setting., Disability Confident
