Experteer Overview As Lead Project Engineer for SSEN Transmission Onshore, you will guide the development and delivery of high-value, technically complex substations and projects across Scotland. You'll lead cross-disciplinary teams, manage design risk pre-construction, and ensure regulatory compliance and governance. You'll mentor engineers and collaborate with consultants and contractors to enable informed decisions. This role supports Scotland's energy transition by delivering reliable, safe infrastructure at scale. Expect a hands-on, impactful role with broad stakeholder engagement and opportunities to shape major capital projects. Pay / Benefits
- Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams across transmission projects from development to handover Manage interfaces and align engineering design with project timelines and budgets Identify and mitigate design risks in pre-construction phases; ensure regulatory and CDM compliance Prepare and coordinate design assurance reviews and Gate documentation under Large Capital Projects Governance Mentor and develop less experienced engineers; collaborate with consultants and contractors for effective decision-making Tasks Experience in project development and delivery within Transmission or similar industry; ability to fast-track optioneering to final design Strong communication skills to present technical information clearly and support decision-making Proven stakeholder management with internal and external partners Mentoring and coaching experience within an engineering team Excellent technical understanding of legislation affecting assets and projects (CDM & ESQCR) Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering; Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (desirable) Full driving licence for site travel Key requirements car allowance performance-related bonus private healthcare discounts gym membership discounts online GP Cycle to Work scheme
