Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

35 hours per week

Permanent

Ayr campus

From £41,833 - £50,359 per annum

You will contribute to ensuring a positive learning environment which encourages active participation and enables all learners to achieve their full potential, through the effective learning and teaching of students by assisting in the development, delivery and assessment of relevant resources.

 

This will involve supporting the Curriculum Quality Manager in the delivery of the department curriculum to the quality and standards required, through an integrated learning experience that supports the student journey, delivering first-class and high-quality learning and teaching experiences.

 

The successful candidate will bring strong subject knowledge across core electrical engineering principles, including electrical installation, power systems, AC/DC theory, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Experience or knowledge of industrial applications, renewable energy, or power distribution would be highly advantageous.

 

Applicants should be passionate about inspiring the next generation of engineers and capable of delivering an engaging blend of practical and theoretical learning. A commitment to high-quality learning, teaching and assessment is essential, alongside the ability to support students with a wide range of backgrounds, including school leavers, adult returners, and those progressing from vocational routes.

 

You should be qualified to a degree level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with industrial experience within a related field and knowledge of current industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies, particularly within renewable energy and sustainable engineering. The successful candidate should have experience of working with industry partners or an understanding of employer needs within the engineering sector, and have the ability to contextualise engineering mathematics and theory into real-world applications. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support learners to achieve positive outcomes

 

The ideal candidate will be innovative in their approach, able to utilise modern technologies and industry-standard equipment to enhance student experience, and committed to continuous professional development.
