Full Job Description
Job purpose: Prestige Car Specialists (Scotland) Ltd are looking to hire enthusiastic Apprentice Light Vehicle Technicians to join our experienced workshop team in Glasgow South (Ibrox) and Glasgow Central (Garscube road).
We are an established independent vehicle service and repair specialist with over 18 years’ experience, specialising in Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi vehicles.
This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in the motor industry while working towards a recognised Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification.
Working alongside our experienced technicians, you will gain practical, hands-on experience in a busy workshop. Your duties will develop throughout your apprenticeship and will include vehicle servicing and maintenance, inspections, brakes, suspension, steering, mechanical repairs and assisting with the diagnosis of electrical and mechanical faults.
You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship and given increasing responsibility as your skills, knowledge and confidence develop. For the right person, there is the opportunity to progress into a permanent qualified technician role with us following successful completion of the apprenticeship.
What will I learn? *During your apprenticeship you will develop the practical and technical skills required to become a qualified Light Vehicle Technician.
*You will learn how to carry out routine servicing and maintenance, vehicle inspections and health checks, and diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
*You will gain experience working on braking, steering, suspension and other vehicle systems and learn how to safely use workshop tools and equipment.
*You will also develop skills in modern vehicle diagnostics, including the use of diagnostic equipment and interpreting fault information.
*As an independent specialist, we can provide experience working on a variety of vehicles, with particular exposure to Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi models.
*As vehicle technology continues to develop, you will also have the opportunity to build your knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
*Alongside your technical skills, you will develop problem-solving, attention to detail, time management, teamwork and an understanding of workshop health and safety procedures.
What qualifications or qualities are required? *We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in cars and vehicle technology and is enthusiastic about developing a long-term career within the motor industry.
*The successful applicant should be reliable, punctual and hardworking, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
*You should have good attention to detail, be able to follow instructions carefully and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
*We value attitude and enthusiasm and are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is keen to learn from experienced technicians.
*Previous workshop experience is not essential as training will be provided.
*Applicants should meet the entry requirements for the relevant Modern Apprenticeship programme.
*A full driving licence is not essential at the start of the apprenticeship, although we would encourage the successful applicant to work towards obtaining one when eligible.
