Full Job Description

  • Act as a Seafish brand champion in the organisation and find opportunities to apply and enhance Seafish branding across physical and digital outputs.

  • Co-ordinate the creation of assets and collateral via external designers or agencies, ensuring that work is briefed appropriately, and content produced adheres to brand and accessibility guidelines.

  • Apply design skills while using templates and guidelines to create and update simple and effective branded outputs., Co-ordinating design support requests from across the organisation, ensuring they are briefed effectively and delivered on time and within budget to support the achievement of organisational goals.

  • Being creative with content, using software such as PowerPoint, Canva or InDesign to create and update branded assets - such as reports and presentations - in line with templates and/or brand guidelines.

  • Ensuring that all branded collateral and materials meet brand guidelines and accessibility requirements.

  • Providing advice and guidance to colleagues on Seafish brand application - escalating queries to the Marketing Manager or Head of Marketing and Channels where required.

  • Identifying opportunities for branded materials at in-person meetings or events (for example clothing, banners or stands, etc) and managing design and/or distribution of materials.

  • Identifying opportunities for enhancement of brand application across digital outputs (for example presentations or reports) and working with colleagues to create and/or update materials.

  • Working with the Marketing Manager and Head of Channels and Marketing on brand evolution, contributing ideas and suggestions for brand development.

  • Being insight-driven with a keen interest in stakeholder behaviour; able to use data to inform decisions and constantly improve the performance of content and activities.

  • Co-ordinating stakeholder requests for branded content and assets from start to finish.

  • Delivering activities in line with Seafish processes and produce project management documentation for work, including reports and planning documents., Reporting to the Marketing Manager, while working closely with the Head of Channels and other members of the wider Communications team (in Comms and Channels functions).

  • Engaging with colleagues across the organisation to support the delivery of work within our Corporate Plan, as we aim to achieve ambitious targets across all our work.

  • Providing regular updates to Head of Team, Marketing Manager and project managers on progress and delivery of projects.

  • External relationships:
  • Regularly engage with agency partners, appointed suppliers and contractors for projects.

  • Communication with external stakeholders and industry bodies.

    We're seeking someone with a strong grasp of brand identity and a creative eye to support Seafish brand implementation across all channels., Skilled in responding to internal and external inquiries with sound judgment.

  • Ability to recognise when to escalate issues.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Experienced in planning across multiple timeframes and channels.

  • Effective at managing own workload and priorities on a day-to-day basis., Qualification in a communications or marketing related subject (degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship or professional body) OR some demonstrable experience in relevant employment. While a qualification is not essential, this isn't an entry level position, so some experience in a marketing or communications role is required.

  • Experience working with company brand guidelines and excellent understanding of the principles of brand application and management.

  • Ability to use design/publication software such as Adobe InDesign or Canva.

  • Experience/competence using Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams/SharePoint.

  • Excellent planning, prioritisation and project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time and issues escalated as required.

  • Excellent proof-reading skills and understanding writing and applying tone of voice for different channels/audiences.

  • A confident communicator and team player, with the ability to talk to all sectors of industry and people at all levels in and out of the organisation.

  • Analytical skills and investigating skills for business improvement and optimisation of resources.

  • About the Communications Team

    In the Communications team it's our job to promote the work we do at Seafish to the right people, in the right way at the right time. We're an energetic team responsible for delivering a packed programme of multi-channel activity to our internal and external audiences. We support a huge industry that's changing all the time. There are challenges to manage but there are also plenty of positive stories to tell.

    Our Communications team has two functions: a Comms and PR function focused on content creation and calendar management for internal and external comms, and a Channels function focused on platform management, and data/insight and brand. This role is in our channels function, but we all work together closely, sharing our knowledge and expertise as one team. A few of the team work remotely and others work a hybrid pattern, both remotely and from our Edinburgh office. We all come together for face to face catch up sessions throughout the year and additional travel may be required for conferences or events.

    All roles within Seafish are graded and have defined salary bands. This role is a grade 3 post, and the starting salary is at £28,568. A new member's appointment on the pay spine is dependent on the experience they bring to the role when they start. New candidates normally start at the lower end of the range unless they can demonstrate considerable experience in the requirements of the role.
