Full Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be a key technical authority supporting operational plant performance within a highly regulated nuclear environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with safety-critical systems, providing engineering expertise that enables safe, reliable and compliant operations. Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, environmental, quality and legislative requirements across all engineering activities
  • Provide technical authority for Management of Change and Management of Operations processes
  • Deliver clear advice and documentation to senior leaders, system owners, operators and maintainers
  • Own engineering issues by planning, managing and delivering safe, effective mechanical solutions
  • Undertake secondary site roles such as Radiological Protection Supervisor or PUWER Assessor, with training provided
  • This is a full-time role, based on site at Torness, Dunbar, East Lothian. Working Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00.

  • Experience working within a highly regulated industry.
  • Proven mechanical engineering fault-finding and resolution.
  • Experience designing and substantiating engineered modification packages
  • Ability to deliver turnkey engineering work packages from documentation through to installation and testing
  • Competence producing and amending engineering documentation, drawings and method statements.
  • Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or HNC/HND with relevant experience
  • Security Clearance, The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
