WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Electrical & Mechanical team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a newly created role will be based from our Barfillan offices and will support site-based work across the Scottish region, working on Scottish Water and private client sites. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to support the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, installation, testing and pre-commissioning of mechanical equipment across operational water-sector environments. The role will suit someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, fault-finding, working safely on site and being part of a team that takes pride in getting the job done properly. WGM Engineering is a growing engineering business delivering essential infrastructure across the water, utilities and industrial sectors. The Role As Mechanical Fitter, you will support the delivery of mechanical maintenance, refurbishment, repair and installation works across client sites. You will help keep essential assets operating safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, identifying repair requirements, carrying out mechanical works, supporting inspections and assisting with testing and pre-commissioning activity. You will work closely with Project Engineers, Foremen, Planners, client site teams and wider WGM colleagues to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. What you'll be doing:
- Maintain, repair, refurbish and install mechanical equipment across Scottish Water and private client sites.
- Fault-find mechanical breakdowns, identify root causes and support safe, effective repairs.
- Support site surveys, equipment identification, inspections and reporting.
- Work with Project Engineers, Foremen and Planners to identify parts, materials, components and repair requirements.
- Assemble, test and inspect mechanical equipment, recording results accurately.
- Support maintenance strategies, installation activity and commissioning requirements where required.
- Control tools, stores, equipment and materials held in vehicles and on site.
- Interpret RAMS, complete daily task-specific risk assessments and actively support health, safety, COSHH and quality requirements.
- Liaise with client site operations teams and provide practical on-site support to WGM colleagues.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and travel to sites across the Scottish region as required.
Fully qualified Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent practical mechanical engineering experience. - Experience maintaining, repairing, refurbishing or installing mechanical equipment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working safely in a site-based engineering, utilities, water, industrial, manufacturing or similar operational environment.
- Ability to interpret RAMS and complete task-specific risk assessments.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with operational teams, project teams and client representatives.
- Practical, reliable and safety-focused approach, with pride in delivering work to a high standard.
