Medical Director (Acute Services) NHS Lanarkshire
Consultant Salary scale £96,963 - £128,841 plus management fee of £25,803 per annum

NHS Lanarkshire is Scotlands third largest provider of health and healthcare and we are fully committed to continuous improvement in service delivery and in the health of our communities.

We have developed a strategic planning framework Our Health Together - setting out our strategic aims in support of delivery of the Scottish Government Health Care Quality Strategy for Scotland.  We seek a Medical Director (Acute Services) to further energise and drive delivery.

Reporting to and working closely with the Board Medical Director and Director of Acute Services you will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership across a wide range of strategic and operational responsibilities.

The role of Medical Director (Acute Services) is a pivotal position and will require you to apply expertise and influence in a number of key areas including Quality, Patient Safety, Clinical Governance, Integration and re-design of Clinical Services and Risk Management.

Your medical leadership skills will be crucial to the development of an achievable strategy for the Acute Division and the Board. As such, you will use your experience of senior medical management in the to support an environment of continuous improvement.

As a GMC-registered practitioner, you will use your outstanding leadership skills to guide the medical professionals under your remit, looking for ways in which we can continue to work collaboratively with key stakeholders.

Applicants will have an extensive clinical background, ideally within Acute services, and will have strong credentials as a clinical leader working across primary and secondary care and with strategic partners.  You will be skilled in the management of complex and diverse situations and possess the interpersonal and negotiation skills required to operate and influence effectively in a politically sensitive environment.

This post will be offered on the Medical Director Pay and Conditions of Service the hours for the post will be up to full time 40 hours per week. In addition the post attracts a management fee. There may be an option to undertake 2 clinical programme activities.  This will be subject to discussion with the successful candidate.
