The role – Microbiologist

You will have a dynamic and varied role and will be responsible for provide and developing sitewide microbiologist support for process operations and new product development functions.

A highly experienced and innovative Microbiologist, you will have wide ranging duties and responsibilities and will ultimately be responsible for implementing highly effective production and manufacturing systems to ensure all production facilities distilleries are operated with the highest standards of hygiene and that all products are microbiologically stable and compliant with food legislation.

  • Ensure all microbiological systems, processes and procedures meet company, client and industry / regulatory requirements
  • Provide microbiological analysis for all production facilities including interpretation of the analytical data to ensure consistency in process hygiene / drive associated improvements where neccessary
  • Identify technical opportunities to address current plant issues, capacity constraints, productivity increases and environmental improvement initiatives
  • Provide microbiological analysis on incoming materials to ensure conformance in relation to all company final products
  • Liaise with materials suppliers to ensure the highest quality of products are received to obtain maximum yields and final product quality
  • Lead, undertake and manage continuous improvement activities across all elements of microbiology, specification to final product quality
  • Leads proficiency schemes relating to microbiology and sitewide hygiene
  • Provide microbiological specifications together with recommended testing regimes for any products that are in a development phase

Ideally degree qualified in Microbiology, you will have a wealth of experience as a Microbiologist within an FMCG environment, drinks industry experience would be a distinct advantage. You will have a proven background leading, managing and developing all elements of company microbiology systems, processes and procedures. You will be able to demonstrate an excellent combination of technical, analytical and problem solving skills within microbiology within new product development, product change and existing product maintenance.
