Modern Apprentice – Marketing Communications

Job purpose: This Modern Apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to begin developing a career in marketing and communications within the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).

Working as part of the NMIS communications team, you will gain practical experience across a broad range of marketing and communications activities, including digital content, social media, newsletters, websites, events, research and stakeholder engagement.

The role will provide varied, hands-on experience within a professional environment, while allowing you to develop your communication, organisational, digital and creative skills. You will work alongside experienced colleagues and receive ongoing guidance and training as you build your knowledge and confidence.

Alongside your practical experience, you will work towards a recognised Modern Apprenticeship qualification, providing a strong foundation for your future development in marketing, communications and related professional roles.

What will I learn? This role will give you the opportunity to develop practical skills across marketing, communications and business administration.

You will learn how to:

> Support social media and digital communications;

> Create and update marketing content;

> Use websites, Share

Point, CRM systems and communication platforms;

> Prepare newsletters and mailshots;

> Support the organisation and delivery of events;

> Carry out marketing and event research;

> Maintain accurate records, calendars and digital media;

> Communicate professionally with colleagues and stakeholders;

> Organise meetings and manage different tasks and priorities;

> Work effectively as part of a team; and

> Develop your creativity, confidence, organisation and communication skills.

You will be supported to build these skills through training, guidance and hands-on experience throughout the apprenticeship.

What qualifications or qualities are required? We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and keen to learn.

You will need a minimum of four National 5 qualifications at grades A–C, or equivalent. These must include English, Mathematics and an Administration, Business, Communication or Media-related subject.

You should also:

> Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;

> Communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing;

> Have good attention to detail;

> Be organised and able to manage different priorities;

> Enjoy working with and engaging with different people;

> Be able to work flexibly as part of a team;

> Be enthusiastic about learning and developing new skills;

> Have a creative mindset; and

> Have an interest in administration, marketing or communications.

Previous administrative, marketing or communications experience would be useful, but it is not essential.
