Full Job Description
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a fulltime, permanent post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday (8.30-16.30).
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the effective scheduling of all post mortem examinations & collating performance statistics related to the Mortuary, including turnaround time for post mortem examinations, status reports on length of stay, and daily capacity statistics. The post holder will also ensure effective maintenance of the Mortuary aspects of the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with quality Key Performance Indicators. The post holder will have delegated responsibility for managing the post mortem aspects of the Mortuary service, responsibility for quality management within the Mortuary, scheduling and undertaking audits and ensuring timeous preparation and/or update of Standard Operating Procedures. As part of this job you would also assume full responsibility for managing the entire Mortuary service in the absence of the Mortuary Manager & deputise for the Mortuary Manager in relation to all operational & managerial functions, to ensure the smooth running of the service. Assist with management of body storage capacity and backfill body stores when required. The post holder will act as mentor and will support training of Trainee APTs, Mortuary Assistants and clerical staff. Assist the Mortuary Manager in the response to a National Emergency, or Disaster Victim Identification incident. Previous experience working within a Mortuary environment is desirable.
