Full Job Description

WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for an Occupational Health & Wellbeing Advisor to join our HSEQ function on a permanent, Full Time or part-time basis.

Reporting to the HSEQ Director, you will act as a trusted occupational health subject-matter expert while helping to shape and deliver WGM's wider health and wellbeing approach.

Working closely with employees, managers, HR, Health and Safety colleagues, senior leaders and external occupational health providers, you will coordinate occupational health activity, support the management of workplace health risks and lead proactive wellbeing initiatives across the business.

WGM is entering a significant period of growth, supported by secured long-term frameworks across the UK water sector and a strong pipeline of essential infrastructure work. We combine the close working relationships and practical mindset of a specialist engineering business with the scale, stability and wider support of RSK Group.

This is an opportunity to make a visible difference to our people and help create a healthy, inclusive and high-performing workplace as WGM continues to grow.

What you'll be doing;

Providing practical advice and guidance on occupational health, fitness for work and employee wellbeing.

Coordinating referrals, medicals, health surveillance, case reviews and return-to-work activity.

Supporting managers with workplace adjustments, recommended controls and sensitive employee health matters.

Managing relationships with external occupational health providers and monitoring service quality and performance.

Maintaining accurate, confidential records and ensuring medical information is handled securely and in line with GDPR.

Supporting post-incident and for-cause drug and alcohol testing where required.

Reviewing occupational health and wellbeing data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.

Developing and delivering wellbeing campaigns, workshops, events and employee engagement initiatives.

Supporting programmes relating to mental health, stress, fatigue and physical wellbeing.

Developing WGM's Mental Health First Aider network, Wellbeing Hub and digital wellbeing resources.

Reporting on occupational health and wellbeing performance to senior leadership and the HSW Steering Group.

Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of relevant policies, procedures and programmes.

A relevant occupational health qualification, such as a degree, diploma, NVQ or equivalent.

Current NMC registration where applicable.

Experience delivering occupational health services within an engineering, construction, industrial or operational environment.

Experience supporting wellbeing, mental health, stress, fatigue or employee-engagement programmes.

A strong understanding of employer responsibilities and occupational health legislation.

Experience managing referrals, health surveillance, case management and fitness-for-work activity.

The ability to design and deliver engaging workshops, campaigns and employee communications.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to advise employees, managers and senior leaders.

The ability to analyse data and translate findings into practical actions and improvements.

An empathetic, professional and organised approach, with a strong commitment to confidentiality.

A full UK driving licence, as travel to WGM sites and workshops will form part of the role.

Experience managing external occupational health providers or supporting Mental Health First Aider networks would be beneficial, although not essential.

£42,000-£50,000 per annum full-time equivalent, dependent on skills and experience. Salary will be pro rata for Part Time.

Our benefits include:

32 days' holiday, increasing to 36 days based on length of service, pro rata for part-time working.

Employer pension contribution of 6%

Death In Service

Salary-sacrifice options, including electric vehicle leasing, annual leave purchase and cycle-to-work schemes.

Hybrid working arrangements where operational requirements allow.

Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.

Company sick pay following the qualifying period.

Access to an employee discount programme.

WGM Engineering is an Equal Opportunities Employer and a proud Living Wage Scotland employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to providing reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
