Full Job Description

The positions objective is to deliver site targets by ensuring the facility structure, utilities, manufacturing systems and equipment are maintained to a world class standard. The operational support group will assist in projects to deliver quality, productivity, safety and cost saving improvements. The primary function of the role is to ensure that the facility and manufacturing process continues to deliver world class products as efficiently as possible through effective preventative maintenance, emergency breakdown response and continuous improvement initiatives.RESPONSIBILITIES:The role of the operational support engineer is to ensure that the facility, facility systems and manufacturing process equipment are maintained to the correct standard.Participate as a team member in multi-functional corporate site projects, taking on ownership and responsibility in delivering actions and tasks specific to the operational support team. Use trouble shooting & problem-solving techniques to
ensure any facility, facility systems and manufacturing equipment issues are investigated & repaired in a timely manner.Complete & monitor essential preventative maintenance tasksComplete & monitor essential corrective work order tasksUpdate, review and analyse department KPIs (daily/weekly/monthly) to ensure operational support teams performance is being achieved and maintained along with identifying improvement opportunities using data driven decisions.Work with other departments to develop and improve the current facility, facility systems and manufacturing process equipment to help deliver change and improve key performance metrics & goalsKEY SKILLS REQUIRED:Good Technical knowledge of process and equipment facility maintenanceWorking knowledge of control systems including Siemens & Allen BradleyPractical experience of facility & manufacturing equipment maintenance, troubleshooting issues within a fast-paced manufacturing environmentGood communication skills - works
across functionsResult driven Team player and self-starterAbility to learn and develop current skills and behaviours to progress within the function and lead by example.Ability to set up relationships with current and new vendors to develop processes and system to drive continuous improvement within manufacturing process using Knowledge of process excellence techniques; lean manufacturing, Six sigma and SPC etc.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIOS:Minimum HNC or City in guilds in an engineering discipline Experience working within a medical device manufacturing environment or cGMP manufacturing environment would be desirable but not essentialPrevious experience of working within team and delivering projects deliverables essentialExperience of working and maintaining facility & process equipment essentialRole could require occasional travel and out of hours workingRole will require working in controlled environments e.g. CleanroomFlexible work patterns At Thermo Fisher
