Operational Technology Security Manager

At CalMac Ferries, we're more than a ferry operator. We connect Scotland's island and coastal communities, carrying over 5 million passengers and 1 million vehicles every year across 31 routes and 50 ports.

As our new Operational Technology (OT) Security Manager, you'll play a critical role in protecting the technology that keeps our vessels sailing and our ports operating safely and reliably. This is a unique opportunity to lead OT cybersecurity across a complex, safety-critical environment, safeguarding the systems that underpin vital transport services.

What you'll be doing

You'll lead the development and delivery of our OT security programme, ensuring our industrial control systems, SCADA environments, vessel technologies and port infrastructure remain secure, resilient and compliant.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing OT security policies, standards and controls.
• Monitoring OT environments for threats, vulnerabilities and security incidents.
• Conducting risk assessments, vulnerability reviews and security audits.
• Driving improvements to OT security architecture, network segmentation and system resilience.
• Supporting secure system upgrades, vendor access and technology change projects.
• Leading OT security awareness and training initiatives across the business.
• Managing and developing the OT security team.
• Working closely with engineering, vessel management, IT teams and third-party suppliers to minimise cyber risk.

What we're looking for

We're seeking a cybersecurity professional with experience protecting operational technology within industrial, maritime or other critical infrastructure environments.

You'll bring:

• Experience leading OT cybersecurity activities in a complex operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of OT/ICS technologies, including SCADA, PLCs, industrial networks and control systems.
• Understanding of OT security frameworks such as IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 27001 and the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, security reviews and incident investigations.
• Knowledge of OT monitoring, asset discovery and vulnerability management tools.
• The ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across technical and operational teams.
• Experience working within safety-critical environments.
• A degree in Cybersecurity, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
