Full Job Description

You'll ensure the daily operations of the Station run smoothly and offer the best performance possible. You'll be responsible for the safe and reliable operations of a nuclear power plant in accordance with all licenses, regulating bodies, company business strategies and industry best practices., Our Op Techs carry out the following tasks to ensure the safe and reliable operation of Plant:

  • Monitoring plant condition, identifying & resolving sub-standard condition through work requests, performing minor tool pouch maintenance, and reporting civil defects through the helpdesk processes

  • Responding to requests from the control room to investigate plant alarms and perform required operations.

  • Controlling and closely monitoring plant and equipment to support the process by following procedures.

  • Applying conservative decision-making techniques and work effectively within a team environment.

  • Showing a solid understanding of plant operation, design and theory (comprehensive training will be provided)

  • Investigating and rectify plant faults within your own area of demonstrated competence.

  • Carrying out minor maintenance and health physics monitoring as required by the process.

  • You'll also be required to perform in Emergency Scheme duties where you will receive full training for any emergency should occur.

  • Previous experience working in a heavy process environment in Operations or Engineering role with supporting qualifications.

  • Focused on safety -ability to follow written process instructions and complete paperwork accurately.

  • Teamwork - Able to work as part of a small team with positivity, flexibility, and commitment to the wider team.

  • An inquisitive mindset - questioning activities, environments to ensure they are safe and as per the specifications.

  • Good level of computer literacy i.e., able to use Word, Excel, and bespoke systems.


  • As a minimum, entrants will be educated to GCSE/National Qualifications standards (or equivalent).

    We're offering a salary of £37169 - £46963 apply with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences, and qualification.

    As you'll be working Shifts as an Operate Technician, the role also brings an attractive Shift Allowance starting from a minimum of £11,359 per annum.

    Any addition voluntary hours are paid at a premium overtime rate.
