Organic Herdsperson

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced herdsperson to milk and take responsibility for one of our three organic dairy units in Hampshire after our existing herdsperson has retired after 25 years.

The health and welfare of the 135-cow, all year round calving herd must be a priority for the successful applicant, as are high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Previous experience of organic dairying is not necessary.

You will be required to milk twice per day for 6 days per week and responsibilities will include calving checks, calf care for the first 24 hours, scraping, computerised herd records and grazing and fertility management. You must be a good communicator and able to work well with other farm staff, owners and vet but must have the ability to work independently.

We have a three-bed room house within 5 minutes walk from the amenities that Stockbridge has to offer. Salary negotiable depending on experience.

£24,000 - £32,000 a year - Permanent
