Full Job Description

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the key focus of this role is to provide technical and administrative support for all payroll processes. You'll support the People Operations agenda by providing payroll consultancy, guidance, and support on projects, activities, and services related to payroll to the People Managers, the wider People Function, and colleagues across the company.

You'll work collaboratively with all our third-party providers (e.g., payroll, benefits, and company cars) to ensure continuity of services to all stakeholders across HEINEKEN UK (HUK).

Some of the key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Ensure accurate and compliant monthly payroll through robust validation processes.

  • Manage annual tax processes ((start/end of tax year, P11D, PAYE Settlement Agreement) for all employees.

  • Troubleshoot control account reconciliation issues with Finance (Local and Shared Service Centre) and ensure accurate recording of payroll costs.

  • Collaborate with the HUK Reward team, Ernst & Young, and payroll provider for compliant global mobility pay processes.

  • Handle company car queries and ensure tax compliance for payroll transactions related to Company Car drivers.

  • Support the Payroll Manager in executing the Senior Management Reward Policy.

  • Manage daily queries related to Pay, Time & Attendance, ensuring system integrity and accurate payroll execution.

  • Lead or support projects and initiatives to improve payroll compliance and efficiency.

You'll have significant experience in operating a large multisite payroll and be fully conversant with HMRC legislation including PAYE, National Insurance, employer-provided benefits, Real Time Information, and statutory payments.

  • A working knowledge of Payroll and HR Information Systems (SAP HR), including report writing, is essential. A CIPP qualification or working towards one would be preferable but not essential.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are key attributes within this function, and candidates should demonstrate their ability to communicate with our HR colleagues and managers throughout the company.

This role is best suited to a customer-focused individual who has a strong interest in and understanding of payroll activities and the ability to remain calm in a pressurised, deadline-driven work environment. The ideal candidate will also have the following:
  • Motivated to work independently.

  • Manage your time well and meet tight deadlines.

  • Great stakeholder management and interpersonal skills

  • Can communicate well at all levels of the business.

    Our ways of working
Our office sites operate a hybrid model. You'll spend Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the office and can work from home on Mondays and Fridays, although but you're more than welcome to come and work from the office on those days too.

We're currently gearing up for an exciting move! In 2025, we'll be relocating from our current location at Broadway Park (on the outskirts of Edinburgh) to a modern, flexible working space in the heart of the city centre.

The move to our new home at 6 St Andrew Square is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2025, subject to detailed planning and relevant approvals. The site will have great transport links and will be just a five minute walk from Waverley station.

There'll be plenty of support for colleagues during the transition to the new location, so stay tuned, and once you're onboard you'll have access to a SharePoint site with further details.
