Full Job Description
- As this role involves some personal care, the applicant should be either female or non-binary We're on the lookout for a friendly, upbeat, and reliable Personal Assistant to support a lady living with severe ME and Long Covid. If you're someone who brings positivity, empathy, and a willingness to learn and adapt to her specific needs, you'll fit right in! The role involves light personal care, supporting with nutrition, help with medication, and basic household tasks. A key part of the job is medical admin and advocacy: helping prepare for appointments, taking notes, and calling the GP or hospital to advocate for her access needs. Decent IT skills are also important, as our client uses Trello to organise tasks and share resources. On days our client feels up to it, you'll provide companionship and encouragement to get out into the community.
- Driving & Mobility: A full driving licence is essential to drive to appointments and short, gentle outings. You must be physically able to push our client's wheelchair and load/unload it from the car.
- Infection Control: Wearing a mask during full shift to ensure our clients safety; all masks, tests, and relevant PPE are fully provided.
- Qualities: Caring, dependable, and flexible with a good sense of humour.
- Pets: Dog lovers are especially welcome, as a very cuddly, friendly family dog lives in the home! Experience in care and Moving & Handling training are helpful, but full training can be arranged - the right attitude and willingness to learn matter most.
Because our client requires frequent periods of total sensory rest, the ability to work independently, problem-solve quietly, and maintain a calm, dark environment is essential. You'll also need to be mindful of allergies/intolerances and recognize signs of an allergic reaction.,
