Portfolio Planning Engineer

Working Pattern:Permanent | Full Time |Flexible First options available The role SSEN Transmission is recruiting Portfolio Planning Engineers to join the Business Development PMO Planning and Portfolio Intelligence team. You will help develop and maintain an integrated view of SSEN Transmission's future investment portfolio, supporting strategic industry programmes, including SSEP and CSNP, alongside early-stage investment opportunities as they progress towards investment readiness. Working across a diverse and evolving portfolio, you will bring together milestones, dependencies, assumptions and strategic planning inputs to provide clear insight and support
informed decision-making. This is an opportunity to help shape a new portfolio planning capability at the front end of the investment lifecycle, combining strong planning and scheduling fundamentals with an understanding of how future investment opportunities are shaped, matured and prepared for formal project development. You will Develop and maintain integrated portfolio plans, investment roadmaps and the Transmission Investment Landscape, translating strategic priorities into clear milestones, dependencies, assumptions and decision points. Provide planning support to strategic industry programmes, including SSEP and CSNP, alongside early-stage investment opportunities, ensuring interfaces, dependencies and investment-readiness requirements are understood. Work collaboratively across Strategy, Network Development, Asset Management, Regulation, Commercial and Investment Planning to align priorities, integrate planning inputs and identify cross-portfolio impacts. Use Primavera P6 and other
planning tools to develop, analyse and optimise portfolio plans, scenarios and forecasts, identifying risks, constraints and opportunities to support future investment decisions. Produce clear reporting and portfolio insight, support opportunities through the Pre-Gate 0 lifecycle, and contribute to their structured handover into formal development and delivery arrangements. You have Experience in planning, scheduling, portfolio planning or project controls within a complex infrastructure, engineering, utilities or regulated environment. Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, including schedule development, critical path analysis, milestones, dependencies and programme logic. Experience supporting multiple programmes, portfolios or early-stage investment opportunities, with an understanding of governance frameworks and investment lifecycles. Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions, interpret complex information and influence
decision-making across diverse teams. Excellent reporting and data presentation skills, using Microsoft 365 and planning tools; knowledge of Power BI, electricity transmission or regulated infrastructure investment would be advantageous.
