Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, organised and highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join the Perinatal Pharmacology Group on a Wellcome Trust funded translational research programme. The overarching aim is to develop an integrated, physiologically based, multiscale platform to humanise preclinical assessment of fetal drug exposure and toxicity during pregnancy.

Under the direction of Dr Adeniyi Olagunju, and in tandem with other members of the group and collaborating scientists, you will lead the establishment of a library of human relevant iPSC- and primary tissue derived cells for organ-on-chip modelling applications. You will also be responsible for their characterisation and functional assessment following internationally acceptable standards.

You will work within a cross-disciplinary team of scientists, including pharmacologist, biomedical engineer and mathematical modeller under a Wellcome Trust funded research programme.

You should have a PhD degree in stem cell or developmental biology and postdoctoral experience in the derivation of induced pluripotent stem cells from adult somatic cells, as well as their characterisation and quality control techniques.

£38,205 to £44,264 per annum
