With a strong global presence and a long-established reputation, the company works on complex infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.

About the Team

The maritime division is one of the largest and most experienced in the industry, delivering projects across ports, shipyards, dry docks and wider marine infrastructure.

The team works on technically challenging schemes ranging from feasibility studies and masterplanning through to detailed design and construction support. Current and recent projects include:

  • Major port developments
  • Large-scale shipyard and dry dock infrastructure
  • Structural assessments of maritime assets
  • Ongoing support to naval and defence infrastructure
  • International marine infrastructure projects across Europe, the Middle East and Asia

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams on projects of both regional and international significance.

The Role

This position is suited to an experienced Senior or Principal Civil/Structural Maritime Engineer looking to take the next step in their career.

Working as part of an established maritime engineering team, you will apply your technical expertise to the design, assessment and delivery of maritime civil engineering structures including ports, harbours, shipyards and associated infrastructure.

Projects span the full lifecycle from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, construction, refurbishment and asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and analysis of maritime engineering structures.
  • Review and interpret site investigations and design information.
  • Undertake and lead inspections and condition assessments.
  • Produce, review and check engineering calculations, reports and drawings.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects or provide technical leadership on larger commissions.
  • Prepare specifications, contract documentation and Bills of Quantities.
  • Present technical information to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Provide practical engineering advice throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality standards.
  • Support business development through proposal preparation and client engagement.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and technical excellence across the team.

About You

You will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with strong technical capability and experience delivering maritime infrastructure projects.

You will ideally have:

  • Chartered status with ICE, IStructE or an equivalent professional institution.
  • Experience leading engineering design from concept through construction.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime structures and associated engineering principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
  • A practical, organised and solution-focused approach.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience designing port, harbour or shipyard infrastructure such as quays, dry docks or dock gates.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers within a professional development programme.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional UK and international travel.

What's on Offer

  • Opportunity to work on nationally and internationally significant maritime infrastructure projects.
  • Employee-owned business with a collaborative and supportive culture.
  • Strong focus on professional development and career progression.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary teams and global technical expertise.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
