Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Principal Teacher to join the team at Bluebell House, our stand-alone specialist provision which is part of Bannockburn High School. Bluebell House was established in August 2023 and can accommodate up to 48 young people with additional support needs.
This new role is focused on leading the development of bespoke curricular approaches and individualised learning pathways specifically designed for young people with complex additional support needs. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective post-school transition planning and fostering strong community partnerships to support positive destinations for our learners.
We are looking for an innovative and progressive practitioner who is deeply committed to the inclusion of children with additional support needs. Our ideal candidate is a reflective professional with an empathetic approach, capable of delivering support sensitively while remaining confident and assertive in a leadership capacity. You should be a meticulous organiser who can manage a varied weekly timetable and adapt quickly to the challenges of an inclusive environment. We value someone who is self-motivated to share best practices and has a strong strategic and operational capacity to respond to the unique needs of our young people.
The start date for this post is 10 August 2026.
Should you wish to have an informal chat about this post, please contact Rachael McIlwraith Principal Teacher ASN using mcilwraithr02s@glow.sch.uk
Please note that although the application process allows the uploading of a CV (resume), this is not a requirement for teaching posts and if submitted will not be taken into account during shortlisting to ensure a consistent approach for assessing all candidates. You should instead fully answer the question section with all relevant experience and skills.
The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for Children. If your application is progressed after the interview, you will be asked to complete the form and have your details verified.
If you’ve got the right skills for the job we want to hear from you. We encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age (restrictions apply to Modern Apprenticeships), disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race.
