Requirements

You will be GTCS Registered (Primary, Secondary) with a knowledge of the relevant curriculum area and an awareness of the main current issues in Scottish education.

Responsibilities

The Principal Teacher is responsible to the designated Depute Head Teacher and is expected to assist in managing and leading all aspects of supporting learning in the school. The Principal Teacher will have weekly teaching commitments - either as the main teacher of a group, or to teach co-operatively with one or more colleagues. In addition to the responsibilities of a teacher, the Principal Teacher has responsibility for building capacity across the school in supporting learners, including the diverse needs of young people requiring targeted and enhanced support.

The Individual

You will also demonstrate application and knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and have experience of a wide range of classes. You will also have evidence of appropriate Professional Learning in a range of areas. In addition you will have a positive and caring approach and commitment to young people, have good communication/ interpersonal skills and relate well to others. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
