Full Job Description

Help shape smarter procurement and stronger supply chains.

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Procurement Specialist to join our team. In this permanent role, you will support the management and control of designated areas of expenditure, helping to secure value for money, strengthen supplier performance and deliver procurement outcomes that support the Company’s objectives.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the development and implementation of procurement strategies across a defined range of commodity areas. You will play an important role throughout the procurement and contract lifecycle, from supplier appraisal and tender preparation through to negotiation, contract mobilisation, performance monitoring and variation management.

About the role

You will support the administration of commercial aspects of contracts and help ensure that all materials and services procured meet the required standards for suitability, quality, safety and price. You will also contribute to targeted savings, performance improvement and supplier rationalisation initiatives.

The role includes providing cover for purchasing system administration through CPS, ensuring that user records and access levels are maintained and controlled in line with CPS Desk Instructions. You will also be responsible for preparing agreed price variations for upload to CPS.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the formulation, negotiation and management of designated commodity areas to secure the best commercial and financial outcomes.
  • Support supplier appraisal, tender preparation and assessment, negotiation, recommendations, contract placement and variation management.
  • Assist with claims management, supplier performance monitoring and contract mobilisation.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of procurement strategies that support Company objectives and agreed targets.
  • Build effective, proactive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist stakeholders during periods of Contract mobilisation and monitor performance.
  • Ensure all materials procured meet the Company’s requirements of suitability for purpose, quality, safety and price.
  • Support stakeholders in resolving contractual issues and escalate persistent matters to Procurement line management where required.
  • Contribute to savings, performance improvement and supplier rationalisation programmes.
  • Provide cover for CPS purchasing system administration, maintaining appropriate user records and access controls.
  • Help ensure orders are received in a timely manner and support the resolution of supply and contract issues.

About you

You will be organised, commercially aware and confident in working with a wide range of stakeholders. You will bring relevant procurement or supply chain experience, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while supporting effective, compliant and value-focused procurement activity.

Required qualifications, skills and experience

  • HND or equivalent qualification, together with relevant experience.
  • Studying towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.
  • Experience using the Public Contracts Scotland Quick Quote and Tenders portals.
  • Experience of contract negotiation and tendering procedures.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain and contract management.
  • Experience of Public Sector Procurement legislation.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft tools, including SharePoint and Power BI.

Why join us?

This is an excellent opportunity to build on your procurement experience in a role where your work will directly contribute to improved commercial outcomes, effective supplier relationships and the successful delivery of Company objectives. If you are ready to make a practical difference and develop your career in procurement, we would be pleased to hear from you.
