Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within the Advanced Remanufacturing Business for a Production Chargehand in the Thermal Spray area. The successful candidate will be based in Dyce, Aberdeen and will report to the Production Supervisor. The primary function of this position is to lead in the Thermal Spray area and to assist supervision and management to ensure teams operate within all company procedures (Technical, Operational, Quality, Health & Safety and Environment) and plan workload / resource to achieve the agreed customer committed turn times. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all Thermal Spray activities.,

  • Prepare parts for thermal spraying by degreasing, masking, and grit blasting.

  • Perform thermal spraying operations using Plasma, HVOF and Flame spray systems.

  • Lead Thermal Spray process development and system improvement.

  • Plan, organise and delegate work activities for the production teams.

  • Provide regular feedback on progress at production meetings and escalate any issues that may impact agreed turn times.

  • Interpret priorities and delegate work activities to the workshop.

  • Supervise the production teams to ensure they are effective, engaged and meeting the required standards.

  • Ensure administration duties are carried out effectively and in a timely manner.

  • Implement, manage and develop company QHS&E and operational procedures.

  • Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required to meet the needs of the business.

  • The Department recognise a number of shift patterns and there will be opportunities to work overtime.

    Robust experience in Thermal Spray and people management skills.

  • Good organisational, planning, communication and influencing skills.

  • Ability to translate technical requirements into operational instructions.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Decision maker.

  • Experienced technical background in Gas Turbine overhaul/Component repair and the associated processes.

  • Understand technical drawings and specifications.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of QHSE procedures and COSHH requirements.

  • Flexibility in working pattern to meet department requirements.
