Full Job Description
Peace Recruitment is working with an established, design-led architectural practice to appoint a Project Architect for its Glasgow studio. This is an opportunity to join a close-knit, commercially successful team delivering high-quality projects across the UK, with a particularly strong reputation in hospitality, leisure and residential design.
The practice works with well-known hotel operators, developers and private clients on projects ranging from complex refurbishments and extensions to new-build hotels and mixed-use developments. Their portfolio is varied, technically interesting and genuinely design focused. You will be joining at a time of sustained workload, with the chance to take ownership of live projects rather than sitting on the sidelines producing endless drawing packages.
As Project Architect, you will lead projects through key delivery stages, coordinate consultants and contractors, manage client relationships and help maintain design quality from concept through to completion. You will be trusted to make decisions, solve problems and keep projects moving. There is support around you, but this role will suit someone who enjoys responsibility and is comfortable being visible to clients.
You should be a qualified Architect with strong post-Part 3 experience and a solid understanding of UK building regulations, planning processes and technical delivery. Experience in hospitality would be useful, but it is not essential if you can demonstrate experience delivering complex commercial, residential or leisure projects. Confidence using Revit is important, as is the ability to produce coordinated, accurate information and communicate clearly with the wider project team.
Just as important is how you work. The studio is collaborative, friendly and refreshingly free from unnecessary hierarchy. They are looking for someone pragmatic, organised and design aware; someone who can balance creative ambition with programme, budget and buildability. You do not need to be the loudest person in the room, but you should be willing to contribute, challenge ideas constructively and take pride in the finished result.
In return, you will join a respected practice where your contribution will be noticed. You can expect exposure to prominent projects, direct contact with decision-makers and a clear opportunity to develop your leadership and commercial experience. The business offers a supportive studio culture, competitive salary and benefits, and a sensible approach to flexibility and work-life balance.
Career progression here is practical rather than promised. You will have access to experienced directors, regular input on your development and room to shape how projects are delivered. For someone ambitious, there is room to broaden your influence within the studio as team grows.
This could suit an experienced Architect ready to step into a more senior project-running position, or an established Project Architect looking for stronger projects, greater autonomy and a team where people genuinely know one another.
If you are curious but not actively looking, that is absolutely fine. Get in touch with Sarah Hobson at Peace Recruitment for a confidential conversation. I can talk you through the practice, current workload, team structure, salary and what they are really looking for before you decide whether it is worth taking further.
