Project Manager

A leading Tier 1 construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its established commercial delivery team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of high-value, technically challenging projects across the education, commercial office, and leisure sectors, working with one of the UK’s most respected main contractors.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of major commercial construction projects from pre-construction through to handover. Projects typically range from £10m to £80m+, requiring strong leadership, commercial awareness, and stakeholder management skills.

Key responsibilities include:

• Full lifecycle management of construction projects from inception to completion
• Leading site teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners
• Ensuring delivery against programme, budget, quality, and safety objectives
• Managing client relationships and acting as the primary point of contact
• Overseeing contract administration (JCT and Design & Build)
• Driving project performance through effective planning and coordination
• Maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

Project Sectors

You will be involved in a varied portfolio of projects, including:

• New build and refurbishment of schools and educational facilities
• Commercial office developments
• Leisure and mixed-use developments

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record within a main contracting environment and the ability to deliver complex projects to a high standard.

Essential experience:

• Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Site Manager ready to step up
• Delivery of commercial construction projects valued at £10m+
• Strong understanding of JCT and Design & Build contracts
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive programme performance
• Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)

Desirable:

• Background within a Tier 1 main contractor
• Experience in education, live environments, or fast-track projects
• SMSTS, CSCS (Black Manager card), First Aid certification
