Full Job Description

A growing infrastructure delivery business operating within the UK rail sector is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of rail works across a range of operational environments.

The company delivers critical projects for major rail clients and has developed a strong reputation for operational excellence, collaborative project delivery and long-term client relationships. Due to continued growth and a healthy pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to strengthen their management team with the addition of a driven and commercially aware Project Manager.

This role would suit an ambitious individual seeking a long-term opportunity with clear potential to progress into more senior operational leadership positions.

The Role

Reporting into senior operational leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient delivery of rail infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion.

This position is predominantly office based (approximately 80%), focused on project coordination, planning, client management and commercial oversight, with regular visits to sites and operational locations as required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the delivery of multiple rail infrastructure projects
  • Leading project planning, programming and resource allocation
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Managing client relationships and stakeholder communication
  • Overseeing commercial performance and cost control
  • Supporting and mentoring operational teams on site
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and internal departments
  • Monitoring project progress and reporting to senior management
  • Ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards and industry regulations
  • Driving continuous improvement across project delivery

Working Pattern

This role is primarily office based; however, flexibility is required due to the nature of rail infrastructure projects. There may be occasional requirements for weekend working in line with project and operational demands.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience delivering rail infrastructure or rail civil engineering projects
  • Previous experience in a Project Manager or Senior Site Management position within the rail sector
  • Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and rail industry procedures ( nice to have)
  • Experience working under NEC contracts would be advantageous
  • PTS certification preferred
  • SMSTS qualification desirable
  • Full UK driving licence

What’s On Offer

  • Ongoing professional development and training
  • Clear and genuine opportunities for progression within the business
  • Opportunity to work on major rail infrastructure projects across the UK

If you are an experienced rail professional looking for a fresh challenge within a growing infrastructure business, we would love to hear from you.
