West Lothian Council Justice Services have an exciting opportunity to recruit a full-time permanent Project Officer to the Community Payback Unpaid Work Team. West Lothian Council’s Justice Services have a statutory responsibility to provide Unpaid Work and other activity opportunities for those who have had a community sentence imposed. The Project Officer will be responsible for managing the Case Management staff and will ensure that Order requirements are delivered efficiently and in compliance with National Outcomes and Standards.

The successful candidate will take the lead with order case management with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for those on order and support them to pay back to their communities. The role will also include performance management, and team development.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Evidence of a good standard of education.
  • A knowledge and ability in a wide range of practical and personal skills as well as the ability to apply these skills in a voluntary/community-based work setting.
  • Evidence of an ability to work constructively with people and to appreciate that working with individual on an order will require an understanding approach (trauma informed practice).
  • Previous experience of a range of relevant skills is essential, preferably at a supervisory/management level.
  • Working experience of Microsoft packages
  • Evidence of an ability to organise and develop projects and placements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of agencies and professionals who are relevant to or are working directly with the management of orders.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council

The post holder may be subject to SSSC registration requirements.

A driving licence is required.

The successful candidate will be required to work one day at the weekend (normally every second Sunday) on a rotational basis or as agreed by the Team Manager.
